Iskander Haverkate

Iskander Haverkate studied Literature and Dutch Law at the University of Amsterdam, where he qualified in 1989, before becoming a solicitor in Amsterdam. There, he built up a great deal of experience working in the field of procedural, construction and administrative law and property development. From 1998 to 2000, Iskander worked as acting registrar at the judicial courts in Den Bosch, and in 2000 became judge in the administrative law section of the same court of law. From 2002 to 2005, Iskander also worked as tutor for trainee judges and those making internal switches within the courts. He was chair of the internal judges group for immigration matters at the Den Bosch courts of law. From April 2005 to 1 June 2006, worked as judge for the trade section of the Den Bosch law courts. On 1 June 2006, Iskander was granted an honourable discharge as judge as a result of his joining Gijs Heutink advocaten as solicitor. His extensive experience as a court judge, as well as his know-how in the field of procedural law, environmental planning law and project development, are of great value to the practice. Iskander has since extended his specialisation in European (administrative) and European tendering law.
Iskander is a member of the Dutch Society of Construction Law (VBR) and the VAR Society for Administrative Law. Iskander also works as lecturer in administrative procedural law for the Dutch Bar Association.
