Gijs Heutink

Solicitor

Gijs Heutink studied Literature and Dutch Law at the University of Utrecht, where he qualified in 1985. Between 1985 and 1991, Gijs worked as a solicitor for the Star Busmann legal practice – later CMS Derks Star Busmann - in Utrecht. He specialised in contracts and litigation in the construction industry and project development. In 1991, Gijs became solicitor at Ekelmans den Hollander (EDH) in Amsterdam where he pioneered the launch of Vastgoed & administratief recht, a practice specialising in property and administrative law. In 1994, Gijs became a partner at EDH. In 2001, Ekelmans Den Hollander merged with Lovells, where Gijs was later appointed as head of the Vastgoed & Bestuursrecht (property and administrative law) section.

On 1 June 2005, Gijs established his own law firm, Gijs Heutink Advocaten. His main areas of work are property development, environmental planning law, public-private partnerships and land development. Gijs is a competent negotiator and has a wide gamut of experience in dealing with administrative and civil law procedures.
Gijs is a member of the Dutch Society of Construction Law Solicitors (VBR and VBR-A), the VAR Society for Administrative Law and many different international organisations. He is an honorary member of the Young Lawyers Association (AIJA)
